Job Title: Controls Technician – BMS/BAS Systems (Data Centres)

 

About the Role:

We are currently working with a leading company in the Building Management Systems (BMS) and Building Automation Systems (BAS) sector, specializing in mission-critical environments such as data centres. Our client is looking for an experienced Controls Technician to join their team and contribute to the installation, maintenance, and optimization of their advanced BMS/BAS solutions. Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation and Commissioning: Install, configure, and commission BMS/BAS control systems, including sensors, controllers, and actuators, ensuring full integration with various building automation protocols.
  • System Integration: Utilize communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and the Niagara Framework to integrate equipment across multiple systems.
  • Troubleshooting: Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on BMS/BAS systems, resolving issues efficiently and ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance and inspections, ensuring optimal system performance and compliance with relevant standards.
  • Data Centre Focus: Focus on BMS/BAS systems within data centre environments, ensuring energy efficiency and operational reliability.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure that system installations meet the necessary performance and functional specifications.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of service activities, system configurations, and project progress.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Hands-on Experience: Proven experience working with BMS/BAS systems, including installation, programming, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in Communication Protocols: Strong understanding of BACnet and Modbus, and experience using the Niagara Framework for system integration and management.
  • Data Centre Experience: Experience in working within data centre environments is highly desirable.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently and independently.
  • Certifications: Relevant industry certifications (e.g., HVAC, BMS/BAS, controls systems) are an advantage.
  • Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with electrical safety standards and practices.
  • Driving License: A valid driver’s license is required, as this role involves travel to client sites.
