Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer to join a Life Sciences Consultancy in Michigan. As a key member of the project team, you will play a crucial role in executing automation projects for our esteemed clients showing technical proficiency in implementing automation solutions with PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA platforms.
The company are looking to establish a large presence in Michigan so you will be actively engaging with clients and their customers, understanding their needs, providing updates on project progress, and address any concerns throughout the project lifecycle.
Senior Staff Automation Engineer – Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver automation solutions and design standards through conceptualizing, detailing, and implementing control systems for industrial processes and machineries.
- Oversee daily operations and activities of projects ranging up to $2MM.
- Lead and support the execution of automation projects including system upgrades, expansions, and retrofits in brownfield environments.
- Lead and support greenfield projects, developing control system architectures, detailing schematic diagrams, programming PLC/DCS/HMI/SCADA systems.
- Be responsible for controls engineering project requirements involving instrumentation, implementation, commissioning, validation, check-out support, and start-up assistance of control systems at the customer’s facility.
- Actively participate in troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of existing automation systems ensuring reliability and performance.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including system design specifications, test plans, and operational manuals.
- Project management responsibilities include developing project execution plans, task scheduling, handling budget costs, financial tracking, and reporting.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including design engineers, project managers, client stakeholders.
Senior Staff Automation Engineer – Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related fields.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in automation engineering, with proven experience in either Rockwell PLC or Emerson DeltaV systems.
- Proven experience in managing, leading and guiding automation design and implementation projects.
- Demonstrated experience in greenfield and brownfield projects, including capital equipment installations and system upgrades.
- In-depth understanding of Allen Bradley PLC programming, DeltaV configuration, and Control Systems Architecture.
- In-depth understanding of PLC (Rockwell Automation), HMI/SCADA (FactoryTalk View, iFIX, Ignition), and DeltaV hardware/softwares.
- Electrical engineering/design experience, developing electrical schematics,
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements of the Life Sciences industry standards (cGMP, GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, etc) is beneficial but not required.
- Travel up to 25%
