This is an opportunity to join an energy-focused firm that specializes in trading strategies within power and energy markets. The company uses fundamental analysis focusing on themes tied to the global energy transition, particularly toward a low-carbon economy.
- Market Analysis: Conduct fundamental analysis of energy markets, focusing on trends in the global energy transition to low-carbon solutions.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks related to price volatility and regulatory shifts in energy markets.
- Energy Transition Insights: Track developments in renewables, carbon pricing, and regulations to inform trading decisions.
- Collaboration: Work with research and trading teams to translate market insights into actionable strategies.
- Regulatory Awareness: Stay updated on energy policies and assess their impact on energy prices and markets.
Fundamentals Analyst – Requirements and Responsibilities.
- 8+ yrs of commercial experience in using fundamental analysis of forward term wholesale power.
- Ability to understand changing supply/demand and identify dislocations of fundamentals vs market prices.
- Understanding changing infrastructure and the impact to how prices behave when resources are added/removed from the system.
- Ability to manipulate models and know the intimate details on how they work so that less technical team members can understand.
- Zonal/hub pricing analysis.
- Frequent dialogue with front office.
- Excel/VBA
This role is based in Austin. Compensation offered is in the region of $225,000-$350,000 with additional bonus compensation dependent on company performance which can vary anywhere between 0x to 1.5x annual salary.
