Control Systems Engineer – Power and Energy
Overview
We are seeking a Control Systems Engineer to manage and design building automation projects in the Power and Energy sector. This role combines technical leadership, project management, and hands-on engineering.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Sales Support (20%): Lead a project team of 2-5 engineers, identify & assign tasks, estimate hardware and engineering costs, and maintain customer relationships.
- Instrumentation & Electrical Design (20%): Develop instrument lists from P&ID drawing, select and evaluate control hardware and instrumentation, create panel layouts and electrical schematics, procure project hardware, and inspect enclosures.
- System Design & Configuration (30%): Lead design review meetings, configure HMI screens and DDC, PLC and/or DCS control algorithms, conduct functional/quality control testing, draft system documentation, and support customer FATs/SATs.
- Onsite System Startup (30%): Install and configure project software, perform point-to-point checks and calibration, troubleshoot issues, and train customers on system operation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical experience.
- 3+ years in the industry with expertise in one or more of the following:
- Rockwell (FactoryTalk, RS Logix/Studio 5000, PlantPAx DCS).
- Direct Digital Controls.
- Aveva System Platform, Inductive Ignition Perspective.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, control valves, and instrumentation.
- Proficiency in Johnson Controls: Facility Explorer or Metasys controllers, and additional software like Kepware OPC, ThinManager, or VMware is a plus.
